Basab Banerjee is a skill development and workforce transformation leader with over four decades of international experience in vocational education, competency-based training, and human capital development across Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. He serves as an Independent Director at B-ABLE Foundation.

A former officer of the Indian Army, he has held senior leadership positions with organizations including the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Reliance Retail, and Airtel. Combining extensive expertise in skill ecosystem development with a strategic approach to policy and industry engagement, he has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s national skilling agenda through competency framework development, international talent partnerships, and workforce readiness initiatives.

He has also led Government of India collaborations with countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, the European Union, and New Zealand, while supporting the establishment of State Skill Development Missions across multiple states.

His work reflects a strong commitment to building globally competitive talent ecosystems, strengthening institutional capacity, and creating sustainable employment opportunities through innovative skill development strategies.
