Fostering women empowerment by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women as Paryavaran Sakhi entrepreneurship model and contributing to environmental conservation
Paryavaran Sakhi was a CSR initiative by Jubilant with B-ABLE Foundation which aimed to promote environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods for rural women.
40 Paryavaran sakhis planted 12,000 neem saplings in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan in 2021-23. Each woman was allocated a specific set of trees to nurture and care for. These women have been diligently looking after the growing neem trees. In the upcoming years, these trees will enable them to earn a sustainable and dignified livelihood by selling neem leaves and seeds. Simultaneously, the trees will contribute a lush green canopy in the area, further enhancing the environment.
In addition to planting neem trees, these rural women were also encouraged by the BABLE Foundation team to cultivate fruit crops and promote kitchen gardening.
